Three Ways to Change Up Your Lunches

Sep 9, 2020 | Recipes

Are you looking for ways to change up your lunches? Look no further than this blog post!

Ya know the people who can have yogurt and white bread sandwich for lunch and are totally content? How do they survive the rest of the day!? This lady right here (me) needs some substance! Not to mention, food should be fun, delicious, and make you say “DAMN! That was s good lunch!”

Here are some super simple lunch ideas to keep you excited about what you eat and keep your belly full and happy. The best part is they’re not anything complicated. You’re probably already eating most of these, but by changing up a couple of things you’re not going to want to trade your lunch in anytime soon.

1. BLTA Wrap

Is there anything better than a BLT? Trick question – of course not! Every time I eat a BLT it’s always damn delicious and hits the spot. Lately, I’m all about throwing the regular sandwich bread to the side and making wraps! I’m obsessed with these high fiber wraps. It makes me feel better about eating all the chips later in the day.

Lunch hack: cook the entire package of bacon so you have it for the week, or for a couple of days cause, ya know, it’s bacon. Wash up all your lettuce, wrap it in a paper towel, and store in a ziplock bag or storage container. Cut up your tomato so you have slices ready to go and keep them in a storage container. Basically, prep everything you can so you have delicious things ready to be eaten.

Now, you need to add some sides to round out that delicious wrap. I always like to include the standards: chips, veggies and sweet treat. You can’t go wrong with something from these categories.

2. Bagel Sandwiches

Again, I’m a fan of switching up the breads you’re using. Bagels are an awesome sandwich vessel because they come in so many different flavors that a simple sandwich can taste completely different with a flavored bagel. I’ve paired a good ole plain bagel with my mom’s homemade chicken salad. Add some lettuce on top and bottom for some crunch and to keep the delicious mayo from seeping into the bread.

3. Sandwich Sushi

Food should be fun no matter how old you are. Sandwich sushi is sure to add a little more fun to your mundane sandwich routine! All you do is take a piece of white bread, flatten it by using your hands, a rolling pin or even a cup. When it’s good and thin, build your sandwich. I used a smear of cream cheese, Black Forest ham, and pickles. Roll it up and slice into three or four “sushi” slices. You can really do this with any of your favorite sandwiches.
